Pastors of Our Congregation

Interim Pastor Tom Cairns and June Cairns

^& On Sunday October 30th, 2022, after a period of attending services at Hillside, Tom and June came forward at the end of the service and asked to join the church based on a statement of faith. The congregation responded with a hearty "Amen." They have been strong supporters of the Lord's work at Hillside since then.

After Dr. Jim Robertson announced in June 2024 that he had accepted a significant academic position at Northeastern Baptist College in Bennington, Vt, the congregation met several times to discuss, among other things, the search process and how to lead the congregation through this transition period.

It was also decided that an interim leader was needed to help the congregation stay focused on its short-term and long-term goals. As an ordained minister, Tom was asked to fill this role and accepted the title of Interim Pastor at the Sept. 8, 2024 business meeting. A search committee was also nominated to seek candidates.

Dr. Jim Robertson

^& Dr. Jim served as Pastor at Hillside from November 2005 to June 2024, having been introduced to the congregation by Pastor Al Page back in 2005.

This year, he had recent discussions with Dr. Mark Ballard, founder of Northeastern Baptist College in Bennington, Vt. When he was offered the position of Associate Dean of Academics, he accepted. This was an answer to years of prayer, since he had completed an Ed.D. in Higher Education Administration at New England College in 2015. Due to the great distance between Pembroke, NH and Bennington, VT, he also had to resign as Pastor of Hillside. He is currently working on site at the college but also actively seeking housing near the college.
