Matthew declared Jesus as the Messiah and recorded His geneology from Abraham through David to Joseph and Mary. Note that five women were included. We can receive God's gift of salvation by accepting Jesus as our loving Messiah.

While Jesus was dining at a Pharisee's home, a woman "who was a sinner" came in repentance and anointed His feet with perfurme. Despite criticism, Jesus forgave her sins. If you accept Him as your Savior today, He will forgive you too and offer eternal life.

Only God and our knowledge of Him are worthwhile. All other human knowledge, power, possessions, and riches pale in comparison.

"The Sin Effect" 1 Kings 11
Solomon's many wives led him to sin against God. Today, sin promotes selfish desires that push us away from God. Our sin also creates hardship and pain for others. God overcomes our sin by inviting us to be faithful to Him and by disciplining on us.

"Bring the Whole Tithe into the Storehouse" Matthew 5:17-20
Jesus did not oppose the Mosaic Law but opposed the legalism of the Pharisees. In Malachi 3:10, God promised overflowing blessings to those who gave a tithe (10%) to His church.

Writing from prison (possibly in Rome), Paul rejoiced in the Philippian church's concern for him, especially for their financial gift which he called "well-pleasing to God."

"Will You Confess That Jesus Is Your Savior?" Matthew 16:13-28
Peter confessed that Jesus is "the Christ, the Son of the Living God." Jesus then declared that His disciples must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow Him. Let the Holy Spirit lead you to follow Jesus today.

The contrast is clearly between the one who follows "the way of righteous" and the one who follows "the way of the wicked." Blessed is the former person.

"God's Goodness in the Midst of Difficulty - The Book of Ruth, Part 6" Ruth 4:9-22
Boaz publicly bought Naomi's land and then took Ruth as his wife. The Lord thus blessed the great-great-grandparents of the future King David.

"God's Goodness in the Midst of Difficulty - The Book of Ruth, Part 5" Ruth 4:1-15
In ancient Israel, everything revolved around the family, the clan, and the tribe. Boaz negotiated with Naomi's closest redeemer, acquired her land, and took Ruth as his wife. God's plan for these two continued to unfold.

"God's Goodness in the Midst of Difficulty - The Book of Ruth, Part 4" Ruth 3:1-18
Ruth used a Middle East custom to seek protection (marriage) from Boaz. Being a Godly man and a kinsman, he promised "as the Lord lives" to redeem her. Thus God continued to bless these two.

Naomi's hope that Boaz would be her kinsman-redeemer shows where God's salvation plan continues. Boaz was a descendant of Rahab from the battle of Jericho.

Ruth provided for her mother-in-law by working in the fields of Boaz, a kinsman. He blessed her with extra privileges. Ruth and Boaz give us examples of how to live Godly lives.

This love story, in the time when judges ruled Israel, is the only one named after a non-Jewish woman. It is a classic story of the loyalty and love of Ruth for her mother-in-law, Naomi.

Jonah was displeased that God showed compassion on the Ninevites. We should learn from this that God makes better decisions about repentant sinners than we do.
